New York

Mike doesn't have a test tomorrow, so we packed our bags and headed to New York. We were originally planning on going to Toronto, but my brother arrived home from the Middle East earlier this week, so we changed our plans! We left right after my work on Friday, spent Saturday in New York City and at Dustin's place. We then came back today. It was a lot of driving, but we had a ton of fun! Here are some pics:

Yes, We're Alive

So I was a major slacker over the summer. I apologize! I will quickly go over some highlights...
  • I ran/walked a half marathon
  • Michael got a break!
  • We bought a car
  • Went to the beach a lot
  • Went to Michigan, Utah, and California

Overall, we had a GREAT summer! It was even better knowing that I was still getting paid while I lounged around! :)

School has started up for Michael and I. We are readjusting to our busy lives. Too bad it isn't always summer!

I have been trying my hand at a new style of cooking-vegan. We have an investigator who is a vegan, and he is letting me borrow one of his cookbooks. As I read through this cookbook, I am amazed at how many ingredients I don't recognize! We'll see how it goes!

Other than that, not much has been going on out here! I will try to do a better job of keeping this up to date...no guarantees!

Karlie Says To...Again

So I promised two posts this last week to Karlie. I know that I waited until the last moment, but at least I'm doing it! :)

So this last week I had to go to BlockBuster to pick up a movie for the 8th grade to watch. While I was there, I saw that they were having a sale on Wii games so I thought I would be a good wife and buy my husband a game. I was picking through, and there wasn't much there, so I bought a random football game. I was worried that Mike wouldn't really like it, but I bought it anyways.

Turns out that this game is an NCAA game from 2 seasons back. It has you pick a team, and go through their season. Naturally, Mike picked the Cougs. He has been playing NON-STOP! Sometimes I feel like we are actually watching the Cougars by how into it Mike and I get!
Mike started doing the season a 2nd time (yes, a 2nd time!), and he picked his non-conference games to be teams ranked in the top 5. He is currently playing #1 Ohio State, and it is neck and neck! He is stressing himself out!

Other than that, life is going well! I made it through the state testing for math. Now I have to wait until July to see how my students did. I'm amazed at the pressure that is put on the teachers out here! I guess that it makes me work harder!

Karlie Says I Have To...

So Karlie is bothering me to post more, so here it is!

I am training to do a half-marathon in June. Here is the training schedule (the date given is the week that you need to do the miles written):
3 3 3 March 29
3 3 4 April 5
3 4 5 April 12
3 4 6 April 19
4 4 7 April 26
4 5 8 May 3
4 5 9 May 10
5 5 10 May 17
5 5 11 May 24
5 3 (walk) 13.1 May 31

The run is on June 5th. I hope I can make it!

Also, I had a funny story happen today in class. I am not going to use his name, but it is important to know that this student has been known to do drugs, so he is always acting kind of strange. Also, he is very into religion and the bible, so I constantly have to ask him to keep the religion out of the classroom!

On Mondays, I usually let my students tell about their weekends. Well, whenever this student raises his hand, I always am nervous as to what he is going to say. He raised his hand and I called on him. He then, with a huge grin states, "My dog ate chocolate. Then, my Dad and I gave it peroxide to get it to throw up. His name is Chester and I blessed him"
The whole class started busting up laughing!

Anyways, I thought I'd share that for Karlie!

Easter Sunday

Yes these eggs are beautiful, no compliment necessary!

So I told Mike that I wanted to decorate eggs this year. I thought he wouldn't want to. However, yesterday he boiled the eggs, got the dyes ready, and started dying the eggs before I even realized what he was doing. He is so awesome!

HAPPY EASTER! :)

Not Quite Sure About This

So right before Michael and I moved out East, I started receiving "Field and Stream" magazine. The first magazine that I received had a large picture of a worm on the front. I have no idea how I got signed up for it. I thought that after we moved, I would stop receiving this magazine. However, I was wrong. Somehow they got my new address, and have continued mailing me. Then just last week I got a small envelope saying, "We're looking for people to test hunting products". I started laughing thinking that they wanted me to test their hunting gear? AS IF!

I left it sitting on my entryway table for a few days. Then today, I decided to open it, and I got the most exciting surprise! I was being invited to be a member of the North American Hunting Club! They gave me quite a few stickers, one of a deer, a badge holder, a bookmark, plus much more! LOL

I thought people would get a kick out of this...they obviously don't know me!

So, I guess that something or somebody is trying to tell me what my next hobby should be...
I think my sis, Ash, would really go for it! :)

Valentine's Day

I had a wonderful Valentine's weekend...

Michael sent me flowers and chocolates to school (picture below). It was awesome! I also had a student who gave me a sweetheart that she wrote I (heart) Math on.

Even though Mike had a big test on Monday, we still were able to have dinner on Saturday. It was perfect.

Then on Monday I went shopping and got some great stuff! We also went to a fondu party and had an awesome time!

To top it all off, Mike got a great score on his test on Monday!

We are having a good time out East even though it is so cold!

White Coat Ceremony

I forgot to post this a little while ago when Mike had his "White Coat Ceremony".

I LOVE being a teacher!

My students took a test this past Thursday. This test gives me an idea of how they'll do on the state testing in April, so it is very important that they do well. I gave all my classes goals for how well they should do, and as a reward they would get a party on Friday. They all made it! I was so proud!

The best part was that two of my classes brought in Guitar Hero for the party, and I got to play! They were so impressed by my expert level! Sometimes I feel like an 8th grader myself...

I also had some students make me a cookie. It has an 'L' in it, and was HUGE!! I like to think that I am their favorite :)!

It is FREEZING!!! Sometimes I find myself dreaming of living in California....

So it has been a few months since I posted...I'm not very good at this blogging thing. However, I have been snowed in my apartment for the last 24 hours, and I got so bored that I decided to write a post!

I will just outline our last few months:
I started my job, and love it! It has been very time consuming, but a lot of fun. I like to quote Michael Scott to Mike, and say that I am an "entertainer first", educator second. That's not really true, but I am having a good time!
Michael has completed his first semester of medical school, and did amazing! I am amazed at the amount of work and dedication he puts into his studies. I sure know that I couldn't do it. I have gotten used to only having a few hours with him in the evenings, even though I don't like it!

Michael thought life wasn't exciting enough, so he tried to make our lives more interesting by getting two kidney stones, one on each side, at the same time! We were at the ER quite a few times!

I decided that it was time to get in shape the past few months, and started exercising. Some ladies in my ward put together a run (because most of the runs are on Sunday), so I ran a 10k. I am so proud of myself because I HATE running!

Over Christmas we went to Utah, and Mexico. I've attached some pictures...we got a new camera from my parents for christmas!!

A special thanks goes out to Mom, Dad, Max and Karen. We had a wonderful time in both Utah and Mexico!
Ashley had her baby, Keagan, and I would post pictures, but I think that we took all the pictures on Ashley or my Mom's camera. SAD!!!
And here is our AWFUL SNOW!!!
