Pictures!

So I got the vinyl from my wonderful mother today, and hurredly put them up on the wall. Here are some pictures:

This is in our living room on the same wall as our TV. The bottom picture is the Salt Lake Temple.

This is the opposite wall in the living room. On the sides of the couches are our two new bookshelves

This is in our kitchen. The pictures that are hiding behind the light are taken by Karlie. They are pictures of flowers from my parents yard, and are absolutely beautiful!

This is in our entryway. I couldn't get our new table and the quote in one shot, so there is two! I like the pink!

This is up in our office/guest bedroom/Chile room. The spoon and fork were given to Mike when we went and visited Chile from one of his converts. They had been in the family for a while, so it was a big sacrifice for the family!

Hold Up on the Pictures

I know a lot of you want to see pictures...but I'm not going to put them up quite yet, because things are still improving over here:) My mother has kindly agreed to cut me some vinyl sayings to put on the walls, so I am going to wait until those are up, so you can get the full affect.
SORRY!!
Hopefully by then my class will be ready as well, and I can post pictures of my classroom!

WAY Too Long

I know...I'm awful at this posting thing. Oh Well :)
So not much has happened since I last posted, except that my parents came to town! We had an awesome time! They arrived last Monday. Mike took us on a tour of his school, so they could see where he is all day!
While they were here, we were able to go to Kirtland. It was really cool to be in places where the Savior has come to visit. It was neat to see the Temple, even though the spirit wasn't felt as strong there.
I think I probably gained 10 pounds because of all the meat we ate while my parents were here. We went to Smokey Bones BBQ for my birthday, had pulled pork sandwiches for lunch the next day, and had texas roadhouse that night! It was heaven!! We also took my parents to Whippy Dip. My mom got the craziest ice cream thing ever! It had snickers, bananas, and something else in it. I think there were more mix-ins than ice cream. It tasted very good though!!
We decorated my apartment finally! We put up lots of pictures, and got an entryway table and two small bookshelves. My apartment has started to feel like a real home! I love it!

So Mike has had his eyes opened this past week with medical school. He thought he was going to fail a big quiz, and had a minor freak out. However, because he is such a great student and only needs a little more confidence in himself, he got a B! The average for the quiz was an F, so he did awesome!! I am so proud of him! I don't see him much anymore, but we workout almost everyday together, so that is nice. He also took me out to a movie in celebration of my birthday on Saturday. We saw The Time Travelers Wife.

Well, right now I am preparing for school to start. It starts in 2 weeks! and I've barely started preparing, so this week is crunch time because next week is full of meetings!

I will post pictures of the changes to the apartment today!

Ravine Flyer II

So Mike and I finally went on the RollerCoaster that I talked about previously. It actually turned out to be 4.50 per person, but it was amazing! It was the best wooden rollercoaster I have ever been on! If you ever come out to visit, I'll definitely take you there!!

Mike's Story

I just got home from running, and checked my email. Mike had left a little earlier to go study. This is what it said (it was from Mike):

You are not going to believe what just happened to me. I rode the motorcycle to school like any other day (except some pebble sized object struck me in the chest while I was on Zuck) and it was a beautiful morning. I parked the bike, walked in and chatted with the security guard for a minute. Then while I was on my way to the library, I heard this really strange sound. It sounded like a gnat flapping its tiny wings, except a little bit louder. And I could only hear it out of my left ear. I stopped and listened to the sound for a few moments, and it stopped. So I started walking again, and I heard the sound again. It was so loud that I thought that I might have a bug in my ear trying to escape. So I reached my pinky in my ear and tried to feel around for anything, but nothing was there. After a few moments the sound stopped again. This pattern continued for a while (I would take a few steps, hear the sound, then when I stopped the sound would cease). Finally I noticed that whenever I brought my watch near my left ear I could hear the sound very loudly. So I started to take off my watch to investigate, when I felt a very sharp pain near my armpit. Then I felt it again and again and again. Without thinking I whipped off my shirt and flung it on the ground and stomped on it a couple of times. I peeled apart the two layers of shirts and there was the BIGGEST bumble bee you've ever seen. It was at least the size of my thumb, and black and hairy. And it stung me at least 4-5 times. Holy Cow!

Can you imagine Mike throwing off his shirts and jumping on them! I wish I could have seen the expressions of the people around him! HaHa

Long Time

Well, a lot has happened since I last posted.

My mother-in-law has been in town, so we have been doing lots of fun stuff. We went to the Palmyra Pageant last Saturday, and then Niagara Falls on Sunday. (Funny story: We rented a car to go to these places, and at a gas station in Palmyra, Mike got out of the car and heard a very short, very fat 10-12 year old child point out our car to his father and then call it a wiener car. The car was a Chevy HHR. Since then, we've seen these cars all over, and refer to them as the wiener car.)

Then on Monday I had a 'performance interview'. I had to teach 6 adults a lesson. I thought it went fairly well. That same day I got a call back from the school and they offered me the job! It was so exciting because we've been out of work for so long, so it is nice to know that a paycheck will be coming. I am teaching 8th grade math. I only have 3 classes, a low-end pre-algebra, regular pre-algebra, and algebra 1. I am really excited to start. On Thursday I went and had a tour of the school. Each classroom has a smart board, and the principal told me that he'd give me an Elmo as well!! They have really cool programs that they do with the kids throughout the school year, so I am really excited!

When I first got to where I am, I interviewed with the school district that I am living really close to. I hadn't heard from them when I accepted the position, so I didn't think much about them. The next day (tuesday) I got a call while I was shopping. They offered me the position as well! When it rains, it pours!!

Last night we went to a chili cookoff in honor of Pioneer Day. There was some really good chili, cornbread and apple crisp. YUM!

We finally opened a bank account, and the guy helping us was really helpful. He told us of some fun things to do here. There is a small amusement park with only one big ride. Well, he informed us that admission to the park is free, and you only have to pay to ride the rides, and that this large rollercoaster is way worth the money, so I think Mike and I are going to go try it out today.

There is also a festival going on today. I think I am going to go tour a Coast Guard thing...I can't remember what it is, but since Dustin is in the Coast Guard, I think I should know a little more about it!

Well, there was our week-at-a-glance. Now that Mike is starting school (on Monday), I should have more time to keep up with this!

NE Cherry Festival!

Tonight we went to a Cherry Festival just 30 minutes away. We were expecting cherries to be served everywhere. Boy were we wrong! There was only one stand selling anything with cherries. We came to find out the cherry festival is a fundraiser for the fire department. The longest line was found at the fire departments sausage and fries stand. Mike got a sausage in a bun, which I think didn't look that appetizing :) Anyways, it was fun to go to a festival. It seems like there are a lot around here, and I am excited to go to them. I heard there is a rib festival in September that I am really excited about!

Also, I got a second job interview with the school district that I last interviewed with. I interviewed on Monday and was told that I would be called on Tuesday as to whether I would get an interview. I didn't get the call. This really depressed me. So on Wednesday I went and saw Harry Potter to cheer me up with my friend JaNel. (It was great, but that is not the point of the story) When I got home, Mike happily announced that I got an email asking me to come back for another interview. YAY! It is a performance interview, so I have to teach a lesson. I am supposed to teach about factoring polynomials, which I am really excited about. I will let you all know how it goes!

We have internet!

Sorry it has taken me so long to write...we didn't have the Internet at our new place.

Many things have happened since I last wrote, so I'll try to catch everyone up!

1. We found a place to live. This is really big news. I love it! It has two bathrooms, one and a half baths, and a full basement. We have a dishwasher, tons of counter space (room for my kitchen aide!!), and a washer and dryer. I feel like I have a real house! It's only a townhome, but is still awesome!

2. I made it past first cuts for one job, and got another job interview for next week.

3. I'm actually decorating the apartment. I've put two things up on the walls, and plan to do much more. However, I'm having a hard time finding studs....

4. Mike was sick, but is starting to feel better

5. Matthew (Mike's brother) is visiting, and we went to a really cool ice cream place last night called WHIPPY DIP!!

6. We got the Internet. This was really big for us. I didn't realize how disconnected I would feel without the internet! It also makes it hard to find a job.

I have a funny story to tell. So we were staying with a family, the Keiths, while we were looking for an apartment. The Keiths were wonderful to put us up for a week. The Keiths have three children, Gracie (4), Sammy (2), and Benson (8months). One day Mike was using the restroom, minding his own business. Gracie liked to follow us around, so Mike made sure to lock the restroom door. He heard Gracie come up to the door and try to open it, but didn't worry because he knew he had locked it. The next second, Gracie was in the bathroom, talking to Mike. She asked him why he was standing up, and why couldn't he sit down like everyone else? Mike was so embarrassed. We found out later that the lock on the door was broken. SO FUNNY!!!

Well, I think that that is it for the week! I'm going to post pictures today (hopefully) of the apartment. I have already given a couple of skype tours, so if anyone wants one, just let me know :)

There is a terrible thunderstorm outside right now. I may get struck by lightening...or washed away....

Fourth of July

Well, yesterday was the Fourth of July, and we had an awesome day!
We started the morning off going to a pancake breakfast with the two wards in our East Coast home. Because both wards were there, not a lot of people introduced themselves to us. However, we were able to meet a few people. We met the Bishop. He is a professor at the school Mike is going to. He teaches anatomy and human sexuality. Imagine having to take those classes from your Bishop! They started talking about specific lectures, so I quickly left!
Next I had the opportunity to go to the store with Julie (the wonderful woman who has taken us in) and her 3 children. Boy, that was an adventure! I don't know how she, and all the many mothers out there, does it!
After that, we went to a bbq with most of the student part of the ward. We had a lot of fun meeting new people. Mike was having a blast talking to fellow science nerds about medicine! We even met someone who's father is a Rheumotologist in Utah and know's my father-in-law. Small world!
That evening we went and saw fireworks with the Keith's. It was very entertaining seeing the kids try to wake up, some screaming their heads off! It was way past their bedtimes. When they finally saw the fireworks, they were very happy. Then we went back to their home, and had a fireworks show of our own. Mike and David were so funny to watch as they set up all these fireworks!
Well, I hope everyone else had a wonderful 4th of July!

We're Here!

Well, I (Cass) decided to start a blog to keep in touch with friends and family. We finally arrived at our destination (not to be named online :) ), and quickly started looking for an apartment. We think we found something yesterday, but we can't apply until Monday, so hopefully we get it!
At this point, we're just trying to keep busy!
Any suggestions to keep Mike from getting bored would be greatly appreciated :) !

We'll keep everyone updated!!

Thanks for all the love and support!
